Meet Uwa

ByUwaz began in 2021 when candle making became a creative outlet during one of the most difficult periods of my life. What started at my kitchen table gradually grew into a passion for creating fragrance and beautiful objects for the home.

In the beginning, I simply loved the process of making candles. There was something comforting about choosing a fragrance, melting the wax and creating something beautiful from scratch. Over time, that love for candle making grew into something much bigger.

I became increasingly interested in the vessel itself and wanted my candles to feel special before they were even lit. I didn’t want to create candles that were simply used and thrown away. I wanted each piece to feel considered, decorative and worth keeping.

That is what led me to Jesmonite.

I began learning how to make my own candle vessels by hand, experimenting with shapes, textures, colours and finishes until I could create pieces that felt true to the ByUwaz style. Today, each of our Jesmonite vessels is individually poured and finished by hand before being filled with our plant-based soy and coconut wax and carefully chosen fragrances.

For me, ByUwaz has always been about more than scent. I want our candles to become part of your home. Something you enjoy while it burns, and something you can continue to use long after the candle is finished.

From sculptural flowers and seasonal designs to statement jars and refillable vessels, every piece is created in small batches with care and attention to detail.

I still make the products myself, and that handmade process is at the heart of ByUwaz. No two pieces are ever completely identical, and I think that is part of what makes them special.
